You Are My Sunshine

Here's a card for CAS(E) this Sketch! #43:

I heat embossed the sentiment in yellow and white, using masking to add yellow embossing powder just to the "o", then adding white embossing powder to the rest.

Here's this week inspiration sketch:

Dynamic Duos #67

Here's a card for the Dynamic Duos challenge #67.

This week's challenge colors were Crisp Cantaloupe & Calypso Coral.  Who doesn't love coral these days?  It's everywhere and that's fine with me :)  The two ink colors have a very subtle difference (at least on my card) but I like the monochrome look of them together.

This is a quickie post because I'm off to fetch the Little Muffin from pre-school (still not used to that idea yet!)

CS: Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake (Stampin' Up!)
Inks: Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe, Early Espresso (SU)
Stamps: Cupcake Party (Simon Says Stamp)
Embellishments: Calypso Coral button (SU), twine (SSS monthly card kit),
Glossy Accents, Stardust Stickles

Also sharing this card at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge (anything goes!)
and Seize the Birthday (anything Birthday goes!)

Thanks for looking, keep it crafty!

Happy Birthday, Krista!

Today's card is for my bestie, Krista.  We've been friends for {gasp!} 20 YEARS.  I still can't wrap my head around how that is even possible.  We met our freshman year of high school in choir class, and she's been by my side ever since {even when we didn't live in the same state!}.  She is such a positive presence is so many lives, and everyone she knows is better off for it.  Love you, girl! OK,OK, OK, now on to the card:

I got some watercolor paper and water brushes and I finally sat down to start painting with all my inks.  I made a striped background and cut the circle out of that.  I like that even though I don't know the first thing about painting I can still make something fun and colorful, it's so easy!

It's a bit hard to see in the photos, but I inked the sentiment flag and both scalloped circles with green on the top fading to turquoise around the bottom, going for an ombre effect.  I like how it turned out. I had to throw a butterfly button on there too, since Krista loves butterflies.  I used the great color palette from ColourQ this week and the sketch from Hand Stamped Sentiments.

I also have to give a shout-out to my good friend and very talented crafty lady Breelin Renwick over at Craft-somnia Momma.  This is her first week as part of the Design Team over at Hand Stamped Sentiments and I'm super proud of her.  Check out all the great cards there, including hers!

Thanks for looking, and keep it crafty!

Happy {Belated} Birthday Post for my Little Muffin

This July my sweet "Little Muffin" turned 3 years old!  The past three years have been filled with the best of times, and she brings us joy and challenges us every day.  We love you Ansley!  I want to share a few goodies I made for her Hello Kitty themed birthday party, and of course some pics of the birthday girl!  I made everything with a free Hello Kitty SVG file found here.

Hello Kitty Birthday Party Invitation
Invitations
And lastly some favor boxes inspired by this pic I found on Pinterest {where else?}  I made a much smaller version with boxed from the dollar store and drew on the faces by hand which I would usually never trust myself to do but I ran out of time...

Hello Kitty Party Favors
I'm throwing my {party} hat in the ring over at Seize the Birthday where this time anything goes.

A Pen Pal Note

Hey there crafty friends!  I want to share a card I made for my 3 year old daughter's first pen pal exchange.  One of my Instagram "acquaintances" and I have been having such fun comparing the milestones of our little girls who are almost the same age.  It's been so fun to connect with a stranger across the country who's life has so many parallels to mine.  Kind of like all the amazing papercrafters I've been able to connect with through this blog.  It's awesome!  We decided to have the girls start sending each other pen pal packages, so here's her first card for Kennedy.

I used some more patterned paper from Simple Stories, and I love this one that looks like it's layered with lined paper ripped from a spiral notebook.  I used my spiral notebook border punch on the background to tie them together. I'm also loving Stampin' Up's new candy dots.  I made the sentiment from some Thickers alphas.

I used the sketch for this week over at CAS(E) this Sketch!

And this week's CASology cue card

We're including some stickers and other goodies, and I think the girls will have a great time sending {and especially receiving} mail!  And just for funsies I'm including some pics of Ansley working in my craft room yesterday.  She was REALLY wanting to get in on the action, she's growing up so fast, I'm amazed at how much she can do with just a little help.  She picked out all the stamps, inks, and papers and her card for daddy turned out great!

Inking, stamping, picking out papers and taping all by herself :)

I'm back, Baby!

Hello crafty friends!  It's been a very long time since I've made an appearance here in blogland, and it's good to be (almost) back in the loop.  I feel like I've missed so much over the last six months but I'm ready to dip my crafting toes back in the water.  Thought I'd start with a look at what's happening at CAS-ual Fridays this week.

I needed to make a very long overdue thank you card for our good friend who is also the realtor responsible for helping us buy our first home. This card has been on my to-do list for over 2 years but it's never too late to say thanks. (I hope!)  I knew I wanted to use some of the great house images from the Silhouette Online Store to make a simple and masculine thank you card.

I used patterned papers from Simple Stories Sn@p! Color Vibe 6x6 pad in aqua, green and orange behind the negative image.

Love this wooden tag from Simon Says Stamp card kit!

My second project of the day was a housewarming card for my BFF Erica.  She and her family just bought their first home and I'm so excited for them!  It was hard to choose from all the adorable house images I found, but I chose a Home Sweet Home theme for hers.

I must admit I'm feeling a bit rusty after taking a such a long break from creating stuff, and was only about medium happy with the way these cards turned out. But I'm just going to power through and keep moving forward!  Thanks so much for looking!
