Muse for Babies

Here's a quick card inspired by this week's Muse card.  I needed a gender-neutral baby card, so I used reds and blues and took the horizontal background image from the inspiration card and put the little elephant tag on top.  I used my Cameo to cut the elephant.

Here's the lovely card by the Monday Muse, Karen M.

Also linking up at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge where this week Anything Goes.

Thanks for looking, and keep it crafty!

Easy Halloween Banner

Today I made a super cute and easy to make Halloween banner.  Thanks to my BFF and fellow crafty lady Erica who arranged a fun class and helped us put these together today.  It was a fun morning and I was pleasantly surprised at how easily this came together.  Here's my version:

This was created with Stampin' Up's Build a Banner & Halloween Simply Created Accessory kits.  I added a few random embellishments I had in my stash and voila!

And I have pennants left over for future projects, hooray!  Thanks Erica!  Love you tons!

Thanks for looking, keep it crafty!

One Layer Card for Colour Q and Pinspired

So... I've had a realization of sorts about my cardmaking style.  I guess I'm just a real simple (boring?) cardmaker at heart.  Starting this blog has really challenged me to push myself and I find that the more elements to a challenge the more difficult time I have.  5 colors? gah! 4 colors? *sweat sweat*  OK I'll give it a try...  I have to remind myself that nothing is fun if it's always EASY.  So here's my card for Colour Q.  This site has amazing color palettes every week and every week I run away scared!  This time I managed something:

The Rich Razzleberry hearts and sentiment here look almost black, but alas, they aren't...promise! Here's the color palette:

I found a new challenge site, called Pinspired Challenges.  Inspired by Pinterest, because who isn't?

Because of the quilt in the inspiration photo, I knew I wanted to incorporate a stitched element.  So I hung my little banners from some stitched lines.  This card didn't start as a one-layer card, so below is my first attempt.  I couldn't really decide which was better, but since I rarely do a one-layer card I decided to feature that one.

Ink: Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, Primrose Petals, Rich Razzleberry (Stampin' Up!), Stazon
Stamp set: Card Exchanging Friends (Simon Says Stamp)
Cardstock: Marshmallow (Bazzill), Crumb Cake (Stampin' Up!)

Retro Sketches #80 and Simon Says...Emboss It!

Here's a card I made using this week's sketch at Retro Sketches.

I used my Distress embossing powder for the sentiment.  It's a bit out of my comfort zone because I usually like a really sharp embossed image, but it worked for the old and yellowed (kinda spooky) look I was going for.

I also used something I've never tried before called Flower Soft in "Autumn" to mimic piles of fall leaves on the bottom of the card.

UPDATE: Hooray! This card was chosen as the Retro Sketches ROCKstar!  How cool is that?

Birthday Note Cards

Here's a set of 4 note cards for this week's Friday Mashup Challenge.  The challenge was to create set of 3x3 note cards, or a project with washi tape.  I decided to "mash it up" and do both.

I used the tiny attacher staples and yellow pearl pen to make the candles.

I got the idea for these washi tape cakes from a card my husband made.  He is so sweet, he and our daughter will raid my craft space and make the best cards for me, I love them!  I've been waiting to use this idea for months.

Not bad for a non-crafty husband and a 3 year old, eh?

Also playing at Seize the Birthday.

Hope you're all enjoying the weekend!  Thanks for looking, keep it crafty!

Muse #33 and Freshly Made Sketches #102

Today's card:

This card was inspired by this week's gorgeous card at Muse combined with this week's sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  Laurie's card reminded me how much I love pink and navy blue together.  I decided to use the colors and the anchor element from her card, and I think this sentiment is perfect because a good friendship is like an anchor to what's really important during the times when the "seas" of your life may be rough.  I have a few of those people in my life, they know who they are!

Hey ladies!

Hey ladieeees! {Get funky}

Here's a card for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge this week.

Who would've guessed that someone over at CAS-ual Fridays loves the Beastie Boys too?  This weeks challenge {to use both kraft and text} is inspired by some of their lyrics.

I had a few different ideas for how to use text in this challenge {because using kraft comes very easily to me, no worries there!} before I remembered some papers I had stashed that are actual pages from vintage books.  Perfect for making this easy punch flower!

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.  We took the Little Muffin to the Portland Zoo. Her favorite animals were the giraffes, unfortunately they aren't part of the petting zoo portion, maybe someday!
